THE "ART" OF THE JAVELIN: OLYMPIC PICASSO CREATES ART FOR INSPIRATIONAL FELLOW JAVELIN THROWER

May 15, 1983. American Tom Petranoff shatters the world record javelin throw by 3 meters, a throw which led to alterations in the javelin's design in order to shorten distances. To honor that day's 40th anniversary - a fellow javelin athlete, Roald Bradstock - affectionately known as the "Olympic Picasso" after his artwork featuring Olympic events was displayed at multiple Olympic Games - has created six pieces of art in Petranoff's honor.
